Lafarge Precast is proud to be part of the team that connected Aurum Road to the Anthony Henday Ring Road, providing much-needed highway access for the Aurum Road Industrial Park. A key component of this project is the segmental precast arch culvert, which plays a vital role in making this connection possible.
The segmented precast arch culvert spans 21 meters (69 feet) in width at the base, crossing a small creek while also serving as a wildlife passage under the new road. With an arch height of 8 meters (26 feet), the structure will be backfilled with an additional 8 meters (26 feet) of material. This fill will support the construction of the new connector road from 17th Street to the Anthony Henday Ring Road above the culvert. The total length of the precast arch is 68 meters (224 feet).
Lafarge Precast worked with Stantec and Sureway Construction on the design, fabrication, and installation of the precast arch culvert segments. A total of 90 segments were produced, all in compliance with Alberta Transportation specifications. The installation was completed within a short span of two weeks, paving the way for the completion of the access road for this important infrastructure project.
