Lafarge Precast supplied and installed Hollowcore thin floor slabs for both the main and second floors of the building, demonstrating the versatility and efficiency of this precast solution. Hollowcore slabs are extruded, prestressed concrete elements that offer superior structural performance, long clear spans, fire resistance, and acoustic separation. Their lightweight design reduces the overall building weight, resulting in more cost-effective foundations and supporting structures.
The installation process was quick and efficient, minimizing construction time and disruptions. This system is perfect for projects that require large spans and minimal on-site labor, making it a preferred choice for achieving high-quality construction while maintaining a streamlined schedule.
For this project, structural precast Hollowcore flooring slabs were specified for the 10,013 square foot mezzanine floor area. To reduce the number of columns and beams on the ground floor, the design featured 10″ thick Hollowcore. This allowed for longer spans between supporting structures and increased load capacity. In addition to the design and engineering benefits, Hollowcore slabs can be swiftly installed on-site, further reducing the overall project timeline.
