The Taylor Drive Interchange project addressed vital infrastructure needs by realigning the Queen Elizabeth II Highway at Gaetz Avenue and Taylor Drive to improve traffic flow and support future regional growth. The project scope included the construction of five new bridges, with four bridges utilizing precast NU girders.
A total of 24 precast NU girders, each 2 meters deep and approximately 41 meters in length, were supplied by Lafarge. These girders form the structural foundation for four of the five bridges, ensuring long-lasting durability and significantly enhancing traffic safety.
The installation of the girders was strategically divided into four phases, with construction spanning 2017 to 2018. This phased approach facilitated efficient project progression while minimizing disruptions to traffic along this heavily traveled corridor.By incorporating innovative design elements and leveraging advanced construction techniques, the Taylor Drive Interchange project supports broader objectives of improving regional connectivity, accommodating future developments while enhancing the safety and efficiency.
