At the new Garth Worthington K-9 School in Edmonton, a vibrant and colorful display has been applied to the exterior of the precast insulated wall panels. Lafarge Precast partnered with Chandos Construction to supply and install these precast insulated load-bearing wall panels for the school’s two gymnasiums. The use of load-bearing precast panels allowed for greater clear spans, optimizing the gym’s space. Additionally, non-load-bearing insulated precast wall panels were used on the Ball Wall for enhanced durability and resistance to damage.
Precast concrete offered numerous benefits, including:
- Speed of Construction: Precast panels are fabricated in advance, significantly reducing on-site assembly time compared to other construction methods.
- Quality Control: Every panel produced by Lafarge adheres to the stringent standards of CPCQA, CSA, and the National Building Codes of Alberta and Canada, ensuring superior quality.
- Durability and Sustainability: Precast panels are ideal for gymnasiums, providing the long-term durability needed in high-use environments. Unlike other materials, precast concrete is resistant to rot, mold, and insect damage, ensuring longevity.
Lafarge is proud to contribute to a project that showcases both architectural innovation and construction efficiency.
