Lafarge Precast Edmonton

Jubilee Park Spruce Grove Alberta by Lafarge Precast Edmonton

Jubilee Park, Spruce Grove, Alberta

Live Project Update: February 2017

Project Overview:

The Jubilee Park Pavilion was designed by ONPA Architects in Partnership with ISL Engineering for the City of Spruce Grove. The building is a 285 sqm structural insulated precast concrete building offering amenities to park users. The building is part of the Jubilee Park master plan which includes a 750 sqm Spray Park.

ONPA worked with Lafarge Precast on all the details of the building to ensure that it meet all applicable Energy Codes and Guidelines. Additionally, ONPA had proposed a unique wood board formed texture for the exterior walls to soften the hard concrete face. To achieve the architectural wood effect detail custom order form liners were utilized and incorporated into our Insulcore wall panel design.

"While this is a relatively small project we had a tight schedule to meet. The choice to use precast was 100% schedule driven by the fact that Lafarge could cast the walls in a couple days, and have the building fully erected in a week."
-Kelsey Valle, ONPA Architects

Stage 1, Production of the individual precast Insulcore wall panels:

Due to the speed at which our crews install structures that incorporate precast Insulcore wall panels, the production of our individual precast components at our Edmonton facility must start well in advance of our commencement on site. Our project management team works hand in hand with the main contractor to schedule the production of every precast concrete component ahead of time, ensuring that the project is ready for shipping as soon as the individual sections are required on the job site.

One of the primary reasons precast concrete was selected for this project because of cost and speed of construction. All Precast concrete components were made off site as shown above and delivered to the project on a "just in time" basis, all shipments were efficiently and conveniently coordinated between Lafarge and the main contractor to ensure the tight project timelines were met.
