Lafarge Precast Edmonton

West Edmonton Mall Parkade E40West Edmonton Mall Parkade E40 by Lafarge Precast Edmonton

Live Project Update: June 30th 2016

Project Overview:

West Edmonton Mall will soon have a new Precast Concrete Parkade.   The General Contractor Chandos and Lafarge Precast Edmonton developed a cost effective precast parking solution which allowed the removal of nearly 70% of the columns when compared to earlier concepts. Shoppers will not have their parking spaces obstructed with columns in this new structure.

This new parkade, located on the South West side of West Edmonton Mall near Entrance 40, will tie an additional 258 elevated parking stalls into an existing parking structure.  Lafarge precast will be responsible for the design, as well as, the supply and installation of the precast concrete elements for this new addition.

Lafarge Precast Edmonton has the expertise to meet the special requirements and solve the unique challenges found in the design and construction of parking structures.   With more than 40 years of precast experience, no project is too big, too small, too specialized or too challenging for Lafarge.

Stage 1, Production of the individual precast components:

Due to the speed at which our crews install our precast concrete parkade structures, the production of our individual precast concrete parkade components at our Edmonton facility must start well in advance of our commencement on site. Our project management team works hand in hand with the main contractor to schedule the production of every precast concrete component ahead of time, ensuring that the entire parkade is ready for shipping as soon as the individual sections are required on the job site.

Watch our Precast Double Tee production process

Double Tee components provide excellent roof and flooring units, spanning considerable distances and providing quick erection to close in a structure faster, Double Tees are typically used to develop a total precast shell in parking garages, schools, office buildings, data centers and mixed-use structures.

Watch our Precast Inverted 'T' Beam production process

A complete precast concrete structural system offers tremendous advantages and value for commercial buildings. The use of precast concrete beams makes an ideal framework for hanging precast Double Tees, creating a design that offers fast construction, structural stability, and enhanced fire resistance.

Watch our Precast Column production process

Precast Concrete Columns are regularly used in parking structures , and other structures to carry floor and roof structure loads.

Watch our Precast Shear Wall production process

Precast Shear wall panels provide structural stability to structures exposed to heavy wind and seismic loads, ideal for use in parkade structures.

Watch our Precast Concrete Stair production process

Our Precast concrete Stairs are utilized as part of this complete precast structural system, as with all of our precast products they offer a superior quality finish, and can be installed swiftly on the job site.

Watch our Precast Spandrel production process

Our Precast concrete Spandrels are a key component in our complete precast structural system, bringing a combination or strength and beauty to the project, providing long spans and a sandblasted architectural finish to the structure.

One of the primary reasons precast concrete was selected for this project because of cost and speed of construction. All Precast concrete components were made off site as shown above and delivered to the project on a "just in time" basis, all shipments were efficiently and conveniently coordinated between Lafarge and the main contractor to ensure the tight project timelines were met.
